The number of solo cabins is being doubled across all 19 ships to meet demand for solo travel

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will add more than 1,000 solo cabins to double the offering for passengers travelling on their own.

It is also now offering three new solo stateroom categories – Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview and Solo Balcony – for sailings starting 2 January 2024.

It means that its solo cabin offering will be expanding from nine ships to the full 19-ship fleet, offering a wider choice of destinations for single travellers.

With dynamic pricing dependent on the destination, as well as availability and demand, solo travellers travelling with NCL can expect to pay less than they would for a traditional double occupancy room on other cruise lines.

David J Herrera, NCL president, said: “Since we first launched our solo staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic, they have been popular with single travellers. After realising the growing demand of individuals looking to travel on their own, we have now expanded single occupancy staterooms across our fleet.”

Passengers who stay in the new solo stateroom categories also have access to the Studio Lounge, available on selected ships, which features a bar offering beer, wine and snacks.

In addition to their own lounge for solo cruisers, they can enjoy scheduled activities designed to allow single travellers to mingle.

NCL said it has seen “a recent surge in the popularity” of solo travel, with more people choosing to travel the world on their own, rather than in a traditional group with friends, family or partners.
