American artist Alex Lanier to create work during stay
Dubai's 25hours Hotel One Central is hosting American artist Alex Lanier as part of its Artist in Hotel Residence programme.
The initiative is run in partnership with the contemporary art fair World Art Dubai (WAD) and is designed to reflect the hotel’s commitment to supporting diverse forms of art in the region.
The Artist in Hotel Residence programme is a 25hours Hotels initiative that invites artists to stay at their properties around the world for a set period, during which they create an art piece that becomes a permanent part of the hotel's collection.
For 2024, it has partnered with WAD to host a joint Artist in Residence programme, building on the success of the fair and supporting the curation of artists for the programme.

Alex Lanier, who exhibited his work at this year’s edition of WAD, was chosen due to “his impactful presence and unique identity, as well as his significant contribution to the art scene”.
The hotel said Lanier, whose portfolio spans architecture, digital art and concept design, is recognised for his depth and storytelling and is set to leave a lasting imprint on its environment.
Lanier’s piece, titled Where to Next?, will be displayed above the lobby’s Nomad Day Bar and is described as “a narrative that resonates with the essence of life’s journey”.
The artwork will capture the spirit of a nomadic family, representing those who live by travelling and exploring the world.
World Art Dubai returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre from 17 to 20 April 2025, when the search for a new Artist in Residence will begin.
